Waterfalls

Waterfalls have appeared quite often during my travels. Some, like Niagara and Athirappilly, are destinations by themselves. Others are smaller cascades encountered while travelling through hills, forests or mountain roads. A few are seasonal and can look completely different depending on when you visit.

This page brings together the waterfalls I have explored and written about on Indian Columbus.

India

Karnataka

Abbey Falls (Abbi Falls)

One of the best-known waterfalls around Madikeri in Coorg.

Iruppu Falls

A waterfall in the Brahmagiri region of Coorg, surrounded by forest.

Waterfalls near Mullayangiri

My journey around the Mullayanagiri and Baba Budangiri region includes Jhari Falls, Honnamana Halla and Manikyadhara Falls.

Kerala

Athirapilly Waterfalls

One of Kerala's best-known waterfalls, located on the Chalakudy River.

Palaruvi Waterfalls

Located near Aryankavu in Kollam district, Palaruvi literally means "stream of milk".

Tamil Nadu

Agastiar Falls

Fairy Falls

Gundar Falls

Manimutharu Waterfalls

Waterfalls of Courtallam

Tamil Nadu has given me an interesting variety of waterfalls, from the famous seasonal cascades of Courtallam to smaller falls tucked into the Western Ghats and the hills around Kodaikanal.

USA

New York

Niagara Falls

Nothing else on this list is quite comparable to Niagara in scale. Standing close to that enormous volume of falling water is an experience photographs can only partly convey.

There are still many waterfalls left for me to explore. As I visit and write about them, I will continue adding them to this page.

Happy travelling.
