R City Mall - Mumbai

Mumbai has no shortage of shopping malls, but R City Mall in Ghatkopar West is difficult to ignore simply because of its scale.

Opened in 2009, R City Mall is located on Lal Bahadur Shastri Marg and spreads across nearly 1.2 million square feet. Shopping, food and entertainment occupy such a large space here that a visit can easily extend well beyond a quick round of the stores.

Shopping and Dining at R City Mall

The mall brings together more than 350 Indian and international brands covering fashion, electronics, jewellery, footwear and lifestyle products.

Shopping, however, is only one part of R City. There are more than 50 food and beverage outlets, ranging from the regular food court choices to cafés and restaurants. A large courtyard also forms part of the complex and is frequently used for events and performances.

More Than Just Shopping

What makes R City Mall interesting is the amount of space given to entertainment.

There is a nine-screen multiplex, gaming and activity zones, and several family entertainment centres. Snow Kingdom is perhaps the most unusual of them. It creates an indoor snow environment in the middle of Mumbai, complete with sub-zero temperatures and snow-based activities.

KidZania offers children a very different experience through role-playing activities based on real-world professions. Timezone and other gaming centres add arcade games and interactive entertainment to the mix.

This combination makes R City feel less like a place meant only for shopping and more like a large indoor leisure complex.

If you are in Ghatkopar and have a few hours to spare, there is certainly enough here to keep you occupied without having to step outside.
