Travel and heritage have kept me writing for many years.

Some journeys became articles. A few eventually became books.

My books cover subjects that have interested me personally: travel, temples, the Ramayana and even fiction written many years ago. The subjects may be different, but I have tried to keep one thing common across them: make the content simple enough for anyone interested in the subject to read and enjoy.

Explore Coorg – The Scotland of India

Coorg is known for its hills, forests, waterfalls and plantations. But there is much more to explore beyond its familiar tourist attractions.

Explore Coorg grew out of my travels through the region and brings together the places, temples, landscapes and other attractions I came across during those journeys.

Mamallapuram (Mahabalipuram) For Beginners

Mamallapuram has monuments everywhere.

There are cave temples, monolithic rathas, enormous relief panels, structural temples and many smaller monuments that visitors often miss.

Mamallapuram (Mahabalipuram) For Beginners was written particularly for someone who wants to understand these Pallava monuments without getting overwhelmed by complicated terminology.

It covers both the famous and lesser-known monuments of this extraordinary heritage town.

Ramayana Simplified

The Valmiki Ramayana is enormous. Many people know its principal characters and episodes, but may never have had an opportunity to read the original epic in detail.

That thought led me to write Ramayana Simplified.

The series presents the Valmiki Ramayana in simple, easy-to-understand language. Rather than merely reducing the epic to a short summary, I have tried to explain difficult portions and share observations that may help a general reader understand the text better.

The complete series consists of seven parts.

Temples of Chennai

Chennai has far more old temples than many people realise.

Temples of Chennai begins with a simple introduction to South Indian temple architecture and then explores 22 temples across the city.

I deliberately selected temples with interesting history, architecture, sculptures, inscriptions or other unusual features. Several of them are not among Chennai's most famous temples.

That, perhaps, is precisely why they deserve to be explored.

In this Tamil book, it does.

ஒரு மரம் தனது கதையைச் சொல்கிறது is different from my travel and heritage books. The collection includes the title short story along with some of the stories and poems I wrote during my college days.

So this book takes me back to a much earlier phase of my writing.
